Ronald Pelas, RN, serves as Senior Care Navigator at Touro. After graduating high school, Ron became an EMT and trained to the level of Paramedic at Charity Hospital New Orleans. For over 25 years, Ron served as a paramedic, becoming an instructor of all specialties within emergency services including Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Ron began his nursing career in 2005, earning his registered nursing degree from Excelsior College of Albany, New York. He worked as a travel nurse serving at prestigious hospitals across the country, including Georgetown Medical Center, Stanford University, and the University of California. The majority of his nursing career has been spent at Touro where he’s completed the LCMC Health Emerging Leaders Program, trained as an EPIC Subject Matter Expert, serves as representative on the Governance Council for EPIC, and represents the Emergency Department on the hospital’s Sepsis Committee. Ron has served on several committees and councils geared towards improving patient care. In his current role of Senior Care Navigator, Ron works between the Senior Emergency Room and Senior Care Inpatient Unit to provide patients 65 and older with quality senior care. He works alongside the Senior Care Medical Director and a multi-disciplinary team, to develop individualized, comprehensive care plans for each Senior Care Patient.
